La valorisation de l'espace public par la microarchitecture : analyse des micro-interventions architecturales du festival Microtopies dans la métropole lilloise Rémy-Rehany, llana Microarchitecture ; espace public ; MEL Microarchitecture ; public space ; European Metropolis of Lille L’espace public, à la fois cadre matériel de la vie collective et espace immatériel de discussion, est aujourd’hui fragilisé par la privatisation, la sécurisation et la standardisation. Ce mémoire interroge la manière dont la microarchitecture — interventions architecturales de taille modeste, et engageant la participation des habitants — peut contribuer à son activation et à son appropriation. À partir de l’étude du festival Microtopies et de ses projets implantés dans la Métropole Européenne de Lille, il sera question de souligner les potentialités mais aussi les limites de ces microarchitectures : création de liens sociaux, activation de lieux délaissés, mais aussi difficulté à toucher tous les habitants. Ce travail propose, au moyen d’observations de terrains, d’entretiens et de mise en place d’outils de médiation, de considérer la micro-intervention architecturale non pas comme une simple intervention artistique, mais comme un levier pour repenser notre rapport à la ville et à l’espace public. Public space, both as the material framework of collective life and as the immaterial space of discussion, is today weakened by privatization, securitization, and standardization. This thesis explores how micro-architecture—small-scale architectural interventions involving the participation of residents—can contribute to its activation and appropriation. Through the study of the Microtopies festival and its projects implemented within the European Metropolis of Lille, the aim is to highlight both the potential and the limitations of these micro architectures: fostering social ties, activating neglected places, but also facing challenges in reaching all inhabitants. Drawing on field observations, interviews, and the development of mediation tools, this work proposes to consider micro-architectural intervention not merely as an artistic practice, but as a lever to rethink our relationship with the city and with public space.
