Résumé

Plusieurs études, notamment celles de Kôpke (2013) et Hameau (2013), font part du besoin grandissant des orthophonistes d'acquérir des informations et des recommandations sur la rééducation des patients aphasiques bilingues. En effet, ces études décrivent le manque de ressources et de recommandation concernant la prise en charge de l'aphasie du sujet bilingue. Il existe peu de matériel standardisé pour l'évaluation et la rééducation des patients aphasiques bilingues et les orthophonistes se trouvent parfois démunis face aux troubles de ces patients. Ce mémoire a pour but d'effectuer un état des lieux des pratiques, besoins et limites concernant la prise en charge des patients aphasiques bilingues adultes en orthophonie en France. Par le biais d'un questionnaire aux orthophonistes, un recueil d'informations concernant les besoins de 35 orthophonistes français ainsi que les problématiques rencontrées lors de la prise en charge des patients bilingues présentant une aphasie a été effectué. Plusieurs facteurs liés au bilinguisme semblent influencer de manière conséquente la prise en charge des patients aphasiques bilingues et permettent de rendre compte des facteurs et enjeux liés à l'aphasie bilingue. Les résultats de l'étude montrent que les orthophonistes français ont besoin d'outils d'évaluation et de rééducation standardisés, adaptés en plusieurs langues et permettant de faciliter la communication avec le patient et l'entourage. Les réponses au questionnaire ont également permis de recenser plusieurs outils et ressources utilisés par les orthophonistes lors de la prise en charge des patients aphasiques bilingues. Un répertoire de ressources à disposition des orthophonistes français a été élaboré grâce aux informations recueillies via le questionnaire.

Several studies, including those published by Kôpke (2013) and Hameau (2013), point to a growing need among speech therapists for information and recommendations on the rehabilitation of bilingual aphasie patients. Indeed, these studies describe the lack of resources and recommendations about the treatment of bilingual aphasia. There is little standardized material for the assessment and rehabilitation of bilingual aphasie patients, and speech therapists sometimes fmd themselves at a loss when faced with these patients' disorders. The aim of this master thesis is to take stock of practices, needs and limitations regarding the care of adult bilingual aphasie patients in speech therapy in France. By means of a questionnaire to speech therapists, information was gathered on the needs of 35 French speech therapists, as well as the problems encountered when caring for bilingual patients with aphasia. Several factors related to bilingualism appear to have a significant influence on the treatment of bilingual aphasie patients, and help to illustrate thé factors and issues associated with bilingual aphasia. The results of the study show that French speech therapists need standardized assessment and rehabilitation tools, adapted in several languages and designed to facilitate communication with patients and their families. Responses to the questionnaire also identified a number of tools and resources used by speech therapists in the care of bilingual aphasie patients. A directory of resources available to French speech therapists has been compiled from the information gathered via the questionnaire.
