Résumé
Fan tokens are a new form of digital assets based on blockchain technology. This master thesis investigates the role and significance of fan tokens in enhancing fan engagement within the context of sports organizations. As fan engagement has emerged as a crucial factor in the success and sustainability of sports entities, understanding the potential of fan tokens becomes essential. This research aims to close the gap in the existing literature and provide sport organizations in general and football clubs in particular with a better understanding of fan tokens. This research examines how fan tokens can facilitate transparent and shared decision processes, enabling stakeholders to actively participate in the decision-making of sports organizations. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study combines survey data from PSG fans with an analysis of existing literature. Fan tokens have the potential to revolutionize fan engagement by leveraging blockchain technology. The surveyed PSG fans within this research exhibit high levels of fan engagement, with a significant proportion expressing willingness to attend games and purchase other team-related products. However, awareness and ownership of $PSG Fan Tokens were relatively low among the respondents. Despite this, there is considerable interest in the features offered by fan tokens, such as discounts on merchandise, access to exclusive content, and voting on team decisions.
