marche augmenter.</dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en" xsi:type="lille:Resume-en">Objective : The aim of this study was to demonstrate that the implementation of a combined APA
programme (walking + throwing) leads to an improvement in the walking perimeter of elderly people in a
care home.
Method : To achieve this objective, a group of 9 people, aged 60 to 84, took part in an APA protocol
for 10 weeks. They carried out two assessment tests at the beginning and end of the programme: the 6MWT
and the Tinetti test. These tests assessed walking speed, gait perimeter and the risk of falling. During
treatment, the subjects took part in APA sessions once a week that combined walking and throwing
exercises.
Results : At the end of the programme, there was no significant increase in performance on the
6MWT. For the Tinetti test, a significant reduction in the risk of falling was observed.
Conclusion : We can say that by practicing adapted physical activity once a week, the residents saw
their risk of falling decrease and their average walking perimeter increase.</dc:description>
