Connaissances actuelles des IMG sur le champ de compétences des orthophonistes : besoins réels et ressources nécessaires pour la formation Blin, Lauranne Médecine générale ; orthophonie ; collaboration ; formation médicale General medicine ; speech language therapy ; collaboration ; medical education Le médecin généraliste et l’orthophoniste sont deux professionnels de santé qui travaillent en étroite collaboration pour apporter le meilleur soin possible à leur patient commun. La coopération des deux praticiens est sous-tendue par la connaissance et la compréhension des compétences de chacun. Pour pouvoir travailler au mieux ensemble, chacun doit être en capacité de comprendre l’autre et connaître son champ d’exercice. Il s’avère, aujourd’hui, que la formation médicale initiale des médecins ne semble pas leur apporter suffisamment des connaissances à propos de l’orthophonie. Cette étude quantitative, basée sur les données de la littérature et les réponses à un questionnaire, a été menée au-près d’internes en médecine et plus particulièrement d’ internes en médecine générale pour faire un état des lieux de leurs connaissances actuelles sur le métier d’orthophoniste et recueillir leur opinion quant à l’utilité de recevoir davantage d’informations sur le sujet au cours de leur formation médicale initiale. The general practitioner and the speech and language therapist are two health profes-sionals who work closely together to provide the best possible care for their common patient. The cooperation of the two practitioners is underpinned by the knowledge and understanding of each other’s skills. In order to be able to work together to the best of their ability, each must be able to understand the other and be familiar with their field of practice. It appears that the initial medical education of doctors does not provide enough infor-mation about speech and language therapy. This quantitative study, based on data from the literature and responses to a questionnaire, was carried out among medical interns, and more specifically general medical interns, to assess the current knowledge of interns about the pro-fession of speech and language therapy and their opinion about the usefulness of receiving more information on the subject during their initial medical education.
