Savoir reconnaître et faire réémerger ces qualités intrinsèques demande un changement de regard. Ces lieux souvent dépréciés peuvent devenir de nouvelles ressources pour engager la transition écologique de nos territoires.La friche, considérée comme un temps de régénération des lieux, avec la recolonisation biologique spontanée comme principe inspirateur pour une reconquête collective de l'espace, ouvre à de nouveaux modes d'action que la thèse se propose d'interroger. Comment ces pratiques peuvent-elles conférer une nouvelle identité aux lieux? Que veut alors dire “faire avec” la friche? Quelles techniques et formes de projet peuvent intégrer et accompagner les dynamiques de régénération en cours?Partant des disciplines du projet du territorial, la thèse explore les approches proposées par les sciences écologiques et les sciences humaines pour proposer une méthodologie pluridisciplinaire.Depuis la fin des années 1970, les territoires du bassin industriel transfrontalier, entre Wallonie et Hauts-de-France, marqués par la désindustrialisation, développent de multiples programmes et outils, et engagent différents acteurs autour de la réhabilitation des friches.A travers quatre cas d'études, la thèse interroge les articulations entre les approches paysagères et écologiques au sein du processus de mutation de ces sites, considéré comme mouvement engendré à la fois par l'action technique et par l'action naturelle.Inspirée par la pensée du philosophe Gilbert Simondon, qui invite à inventer des nouveaux « modes opératoires » pour construire des relations aux objets techniques, l'hypothèse de « renverser la machine » propose un renouvellement de regard et d'action envers les sites industriels désaffectés.Il en ressort que l'action technique, utilisée pour préserver, induire ou conduire la dynamique de régénération des lieux, doit être intégrée dans une approche privilégiant un nouveau rapport au sol - la réparation et non plus l'exploitation - appréhendé à travers l'expérience de l'espace-paysage. The recovery of industrial wastelands - an expression of a mode of production based on the depletion of resources - dictate new ways of writing places, blurring, or cancelling out the qualities emerging from abandonment. Knowing how to recognize and re-emerge these intrinsic qualities requires a change of perspective. These often-depreciated places can become new resources for the ecological transition of our territories.The wasteland, considered as a time of regeneration of places, with spontaneous biological recolonization as an inspiring principle for a collective reclaiming of space, opens new modes of action that the thesis proposes to question. How can these practices confer a new identity on places? What does it mean to 'do with' the wasteland? What techniques and forms of project can integrate and accompany the dynamics of regeneration underway?Starting from the disciplines of the territory project, the thesis explores the approaches proposed by the ecological sciences and the human sciences to propose a multidisciplinary methodology.Since the end of the 1970s, the territories of the cross-border industrial basin, between Wallonia and Hauts-de-France, affected by deindustrialization, have been developing multiple programs and tools, and engaging different actors in the rehabilitation of brownfield sites.Through four case studies, the thesis examines the links between landscape and ecological approaches within the process of site mutation, considered as a movement generated by both technical and natural action.Inspired by the work of the philosopher Gilbert Simondon, which invites us to invent new "operating modes" to relate to technical objects, the hypothesis of "reversing the machine" proposes a new way of looking at and acting on disused industrial sites.It emerges that technical action, used to preserve, induce, or accompany the dynamics of regeneration of places, must be integrated into an approach that privileges a new relationship with the ground/ soil - shifting from exploitation to recovery - apprehended through the spatial experience of the landscape.
