Sur la base d’un corpus essentiellement constitué d’investigations qualitatives dans le paysage audiovisuel ivoirien et d’une démarche quali-quantitative auprès des étudiants abidjanais, l’analyse porte, d’une part, sur les modalités de production des contenus audiovisuels et, d’autre part, sur les stratégies d’appropriation et les complexités de décodage de ces contenus chez les 520 étudiants observés. En tenant compte des mutations opérées par les technologies numériques dans la société Ivorienne en général, l’étude s’applique à répondre à trois questions principales : que font les étudiants abidjanais avec les séries ? Qu’est-ce que les séries font faire à ces étudiants ? Comment ces séries arrivent-elles à s’insérer dans la vie quotidienne des enquêtés au point d’en façonner les représentations ? Il ressort de ces analyses que les séries, ne sont pas que des objets de divertissement. Elles sont également des espaces d’instruction qui, dans bien des cas, poussent les enquêtés à la sociabilité et à l’isolement. Le travail interprète les comportements de ces étudiants dont l’attention est essentiellement tournée vers les productions ivoiriennes et américaines, comme marqueur de leur aspiration à vouloir procéder eux-mêmes, à la (re)configuration de leurs vies sociales, avec davantage d’autonomie dans leurs processus de construction des représentations sociales et une volonté inavouée de (re)trouver une vie idéale par le biais de ces contenus. The thesis studies the behavior of Abidjan students during their serial practices. On the basis of a corpus essentially consisting of qualitative investigations in the Ivorian audiovisual landscape and a qualitative-quantitative approach with Abidjan students, the analysis focuses, on the one hand, on the modalities of production of audiovisual content and, on the other hand, on the strategies of appropriation and the complexities of decoding this content among the 520 students observed. Taking into account the upheavals wrought by digital technologies in Ivorian society in general, the study aims to answer three main questions: what do Abidjan students do with the series? What do the series make these students do? How do these series manage to fit into the daily life of the respondents, to the point of shaping their representations?It follows from these analyses that series are not just objects of entertainment is clear from these analyses that television series are not just objects of entertainment. They are also a kind of education that in many cases leads them to sociability and isolation. The work interprets these behaviors of these students, whose attention is essentially focused on Ivorian and American productions, as the aspiration of the latter to want to proceed themselves with the reconfiguration of their social lives with more autonomy in their process of constructing social representations and a desire to find an ideal life through these contents.
