Appréciation Traduction Théâtre (genre littéraire) portugais XVIe siècle L’étude de la traduction d’une œuvre doit s’effectuer en considération de la dimension littéraire et interdisciplinaire du texte cible, afin de définir quels sont les schémas de réception de l’auteur étranger dans une nouvelle culture. En abordant les différences de réception entre le public initial et le lectorat d’aujourd’hui, la figure du traducteur est mise en avant. Ce dernier influe sur l’orientation de la lecture du texte et transmet les clés de déchiffrage. Les questions d’interprétation, autour de l’auteur et de son œuvre, sont une donnée essentielle pour étudier la compréhension de ce transfert. C’est le cas dans le théâtre de Gil Vicente, dramaturge portugais du XVIe siècle, dont le sous-texte est propice à l’équivoque permise par le pacte de connivence avec le public de la cour, principalement dans les farces et les comédies. La subjectivité du traducteur et ses capacités à transmettre les différents sens du texte, par le jeu des équivalences, déterminent la fidélité de la traduction. Le lectorat, élément final du processus traductif et de la réception du livre, doit être défini. Il en est de même pour son horizon d’attente, ainsi que pour sa perception d’une culture étrangère. L’importation de la culture lusophone dans l’espace francophone, liée à la visibilité du pays et aux événements sociaux-historiques qu’il traverse, explique en partie le fait que Gil Vicente ne soit pas connu par une large audience. Le milieu universitaire a également son importance dans cette étude. Bien qu’en déclin de nos jours, les travaux publiés offrent une réception du théâtre vicentin qui diffère de celle du milieu éditorial et des représentations théâtrales, permettant d’en effectuer un bilan. The study of the translation of a work must be carried out in consideration by the literary and interdisciplinary dimension of the target text, in order to define the patterns of reception of the foreign author in a new culture. In studying the differences in reception between the original audience and today's readership, the figure of the translator is brought to the fore. The translator influences the orientation about the reading of the text and transmits the keys to deciphering it. Questions of interpretation, envolving the author and his work, are an essential element for the comprehension of this transfer. This is the case of Gil Vicente’s theatre, a sixteenth-century Portuguese playwright, whose subtext is conducive to the equivocation, allowed by the pact of connivance with the court audience, mainly in the farces and comedies. The translator's subjectivity and ability to convey the different meanings of the text, through the play of equivalences, determine the fidelity of the translation. The readership, who is the final element of the translation process and the reception of the book, must be defined. The same applies to his expectations and perception of a foreign culture. The importation of the Portuguese-speaking culture into the French-speaking world, linked to the visibility of the country and the social-historical events it is going through, partly explains the fact that Gil Vicente is not known by a large audience. The academic world is also important in this study. Although in decline today, the published works offer a reception of Gil Vicente's theatre that differs from that of the publishing community and theatrical performances, allowing for an assessment.
