<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Gallium nitride (GaN) is a wide band gap semiconductor material with exceptional physical properties. It is highly coveted for the realization of devices in power electronics switching or high frequency in addition to being able to operate at high temperature. In this context,GaN-based HEMT-type high mobility transistors have been used to make gas sensors in order to accurately and rapidly detect several types of automotive pollutants (NO,NO2,NH3). To achieve that, several catalysts such as platinum (Pt), palladium or iridium have been used as sensitive electrodes while forming the gate control of the transistor. Explicit, the proximity of 2-dimensional electron gas just below the surface of this electrode ensures the high sensitivity of the sensor. However, several concepts shall be demonstrated as well as several technological locks have to be taken before being able to integrate them in a motor vehicle. The main objective of this thesis consists of designing, and fabricating of highly sensitive, selective and stable gas sensor arrays GaN-based, for continuous operation up to 600?C. These packaged sensors once optimized, they will be arranged on either side of the particle filter ofa motor vehicle of the PSA group. The first step was to design, fabricate and choose among several sensor topologies (rectilinear, circular and serpentine), to analyze them under a given target gas diluted or not in nitrogen (O2,H2...) to temperatures ranging from 300?C to 500?C. This work led to the design and implementation of several highly sensitive and fast electronic nose topologies for several N2-diluted targets (NO,NO2,NH3) gases optimized to operate ata specific temperature. The last part of this work consisted of the design and fabrication of sensors network thatcan operate directly in its environmental conditions which is the motor vehicle. In this case,it was necessary to take into account that, the presence of other oxidizing and reducing gases(CO,HC, etc.) could adversely affect the performance of our gas detectors. We then opted for the design, manufacture and optimization of selective sensors that can operate continuously at 600?C. The addition of one or more amperometric cells (Pt?Y SZ?Pt), a cavity and acatalytic filter makes it possible on the one hand to eliminate the interference generated byother reducing gases, in particular, the monoxide carbon (CO), hydrogen (H2), hydrocarbons(CxHy) and secondly to exclusively quantify the desired target gases NO,NO2,O2 and NH3. This work is part of the CLEANING project and brings together different partners :Georgia-Tech Lorraine (Metz-France) for the synthesis of epitaxies based on gallium nitride, the IEMN/LN2 for the design and the cleanroom fabrication of sensor and electronic nose networksand for all packaging aspects in hostile environments.</dcterms:abstract>
